Physical activity is critical to the development and maintenance of good health. The goal of physical education is to develop physically educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

Grading
If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail. ~Benjamin Franklin
Students receive a grade for each Physical Education class.
Grades are calculated on participation, sportsmanship, behavior and preparation (changing for class).
A student may earn a maximum of 5 points per class.
Medical excuses or absences do not count towards final grade averages.
* Students MUST be wearing sneakers in order to participate *
Please see buttons below for more details on how grades are calculated
Locker Room:
Every student is assigned a physical education locker along with a school issued combination lock. We recommend that students keep their physical education clothing, extra socks, deodorant/toiletry items, sneakers, and both cool and warm weather clothing in their physical education locker. To keep items safe and secure, students are not allowed to share lockers and they should always keep their lockers locked--even during class. Students should report any locker issues to their teacher immediately.
Students are expected to conduct themselves with pride and respect at all times while in the locker room. Students who fail to do so may loose locker room privileges.
Things to keep in your locker:
- Change of clothes (top and bottom)
- Deodorant
- Sweatshirt
- Extra socks
- Extra sneakers or "outside" sneakers
- Anything valuable: lock it up!
Medical Excuses:
If a student is in school, that student will be expected to participate in class. Credit will not be given to a student who sits out of class without an excuse. A student may be excused on a per-class basis with a notes from parents/guardians, a phone call or an email. In many cases this information will be forwarded to the school nurse for record keeping. For excuses of more than a week due to illness or injury a note from a doctor is required. This note should be forwarded to the school nurse.
Traditionally, the Physical Education department conducts scoliosis screenings in the late winter / early spring. Students who have been seen by their doctor for a physical during the school year (after July 1) are asked to forward this documentation to the school nurse. Students who are cleared for school sports are automatically exempt from scoliosis screening.
